15 Reasons Why Fall is My Favorite Season

Fall is officially (both meteorologically and astronomically) here, y’all!

Even though today, September 22, 2024, marks the beginning of the astronomical fall season, I always side with the weather man’s definition of my favorite season.

September 1, every single year, come rain or shine, is the beginning of the meteorological  fall season.

I don’t know why, but I get unexplainably giddy every year at this time. (Smile.)

Wondering if giddy is the right adjective to describe how this season makes me feel, I looked up the definition at Dictionary.com.

And guess what I found out?

The word comes from the phrase “possessed by a divine being.”

It’s true!

I am possessed by a divine being—the Spirit of Jesus Christ.

I love it that God is continually reminding me that I belong to Him and He belongs to me.

That I am His and He is mine (Song 6:3).

Okay, now I’m getting even giddier.

I also love that if you rearrange the letters of the word mine and add a space, you get in me!

He is mine because He lives in me! (Colossians 1:27)

And I am His because I live in Him! (Colossians 2:10)

To date, I can think of 15 reasons why fall is my favorite season:

1. Gorgeous colors of the leaves on most trees.
2. Pumpkin spice-flavored goodies begin to appear and quickly disappear from grocery store shelves.
3. Pumpkin pie, pecan pie, sweet potato casserole, pumpkin cake, carrot cake, … (Did I tell you I have a sweet tooth?).
4. Breathing in the scent of my “Leaves” Bath & Body candle.
5. Breathing in the fragrance of my “Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin” Bath & Body hand soap.
6. Decorating my house with fall colors.
7. Morning coffee is more enjoyable in cooler temps.
8. Going for walks any time of day in the brisk cooler temps.
9. Grilled cheese and tomato soup season (Whole30, move over!).
10. Soup season.
11. Makes me want to revert to my childhood and watch Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day.
12. Makes me want to watch Dan In Real Life, You’ve Got Mail, and every other wholesome autumn-themed movie ever made. (If you have other fall favorites, please comment below!)
13. September is my birthday month. I’ll turn 60 on the 29th. I’m so thankful to be forever alive in Christ on planet earth at this time in history!
14. Thanksgiving. I love that the focus of this holiday is on giving thanks to our Creator.
15. Anticipation of the coming holiday season fills the air.

I’m sure there are more reasons why fall is my favorite season, but they just aren’t coming to mind right now.
