A lot of self-helpers in this world will tell you that they are working hard at “becoming” the person they want to be.
But self-image in God’s economy doesn’t work that way.
It’s all about what Christ has already done for and to the believer in Him (with no help from you).
And whether or not you believe who He says you already are will determine your actions.
And when you start acting (in dependence on His Spirit’s power within you) like God is telling the truth about who you already are, your belief begins to transition into “knowing.”
And knowing the truth about who you already and forever are in Christ will cause you to walk in the freedom that Christ purchased for you.
Lean in and listen to your Spiritual Bridegroom tell you the truth about who you already are:
“My flawless bride, more than anything, I long for you to know exactly who you already are in Me.”
“This is vital, because people act out of who they believe they are.”
“It’s likely that you view yourself in one of three different ways since you believed into Me.”
“One of the most common views is that you see yourself as a sinner saved by grace.”
“You believe that you have been forgiven and that you are going to heaven when you pass from this earth, but you are still the same person you were before salvation.”
“You believe that you have a sin nature at the core of your being and your desires and Mine are polar opposites most of the time.”
“Another commonly held view is that you believe you received a new nature in salvation, but your thoughts, feelings, attitudes, and actions indicate that the old you is still very much alive.”
“Therefore, you see yourself as part good and part bad.”
“Part saint and part sinner.”
“The only view that is filled with My truth and freedom is that you are a saint who sometimes acts like a sinner.”
“Not only did you receive lifetime forgiveness and a new nature at salvation, but the bad old you—your sin nature—was crucified simultaneously with Me on the cross.”
“You are now a brand-new creation because you were born again in Me when I was resurrected.”
“You are in Me and I am in you forevermore!”
“The desire of your new heart is not to sin, even though sometimes you still do because of the influence of this world, the flesh, and the devil.”
“Every day, you will prove your true identity either by sinning and being miserable or by happily expressing your true nature through dependence on My indwelling Spirit.
