You Are Forgiven for the Sins of Your Lifetime

The forgiveness of God is one of the most misunderstood concepts in Christianity.

I speak from experience.

I didn’t have a firm grasp on it for most of my Christian life.

But after God unveiled this liberating truth to me in all of its new covenant glory, I have experienced much rest and reveling in the One who forgave the sins of my entire lifetime in one fell swoop.

Maybe you’ve experienced the same type of unrest that I did before I understood that I was forgiven for my past, present, and future sins the moment I believed in (into) Jesus.

If so, then you are in a prime position to soak in the following words from your Beloved:

“My forever love, you may be surprised to learn that your salvation has three extraordinary facets to it.”

“When you believed into Me, you received a triple-crown kiss secured through your union with Me in My death, burial, resurrection, and ascension.”

“This kiss encompasses complete forgiveness of sins, an irreversible identity change, and an eternal life change.”

“Today, I want to talk to you about the first facet that you may find difficult to believe: you have been completely forgiven for the sins of your entire lifetime.”

“It’s true!”

“When you were dead in your transgressions, My Father made you alive together with Me, having forgiven you all your sins.”

“He canceled your lifetime sin debt (including your future sins), nailing it to the cross.”

“If you believe that I forgave all of your sins up until the moment you accepted Me, but then, after that, you have to ask forgiveness for every sin you commit, then what will happen if you forget one?”

“Imagine that your wealthy earthly husband never wants you to do without anything you need or want.”

“So he deposits a massive sum of money into a savings account to cover every debt you will incur throughout your lifetime.”

“But there’s a catch.”

“Your checking account has a zero balance.”

“Every time you write a check, you have to tell him what you bought and how much it cost.”

“Then, you have to ask him to transfer the exact amount from the savings account to cover your transaction so that you won’t overdraw your checking account.”

“While you would be extremely thankful your generous husband always agrees to pay each debt, the consequences (overdraft fees, embarrassment) will be costly if you forget even one.”

‘If you are anxious about the possibility that some of your sins have not been forgiven because you can’t remember them all, then rest easy.”

“I deposited My unlimited riches into your checking account instead! You never have to worry about incurring hefty insufficient funds fees for unconfessed debts.”

“Will this knowledge make you any less appreciative of My overwhelming generosity?”

“Of course not!”

“It will make you even more thankful that you can lay your head on your pillow every night and sleep in sweet peace, knowing that you will never have to work to pay off your sin debt.”

“I really did pay it all with the first and only forgiveness deposit the moment you and I were joined together in sacred union.”

Inspired by John 3:16; Romans 6:3–7; Galatians 2:20; Colossians 1:22; 2:12–14; 3:1–4; 1 Peter 1:3; 2:24; Ephesians 1:7; 4:32; Colossians 1:13–14;  John 1:29; Hebrews 9:22, 26, 28; 10:1–3, 10–14, 18; 1 Peter 3:18; 1 John 3:5.

(The above words from your Beloved and Scripture List is an excerpt from my newest book, Fifty Days in His Pursuing Love Devotional.)

Beloved bride of Christ, Jesus longs for you to understand that you have been completely forgiven for the sins of your lifetime!

There are many passages that communicate the believer’s lifetime forgiveness.

I would like to share my three favorites with you:

“He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins” (Colossians 1:13–14).

“When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions, having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross” (Colossians 2:13–140.

“Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you” (Ephesians 4:32).

I hope and pray that this post with its supporting Scriptures have encouraged you in the truth that you have been completely forgiven for the sins of your lifetime.

It is possible that you may be wondering about 1 John 1:9 that says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”

When I believed that this verse was directed to believers in Christ, any time I messed up, I would ask God to forgive and make me clean once again.

But then I wondered about all the sins I had committed that I had forgotten about.

In my next post, I will share the context and the intended recipients of 1 John 1:9.

I hope you’ll be able to check it out!

Please take some time to meditate on the Scriptures in today’s post in order to get your mind renewed with truth.

You will love the transformation that takes place in your life when you are walking in truth (Romans 12:2; Galatians 5:16; 3 John 1:4)!
